In Singapore's Parliament earlier this month, MP Anthea Chong asked Minister for Manpower, Josephine Teo on the training participation rate for unemployed persons.
In response, Minister Teo provided the following data:
The data shows:
- The training participation rate of unemployed males increased significantly from 2016 to 2017, but dipped slightly in 2018.
- The training participation rate of unemployed females has steadily increased from 2016 to 2018.
Per Ministry of Manpower (MOM), training participation rate is defined as the proportion who had engaged in some form of job-related structured training or education activities over the 12-month period ending June.
