The Immigration Department of Malaysia has developed a new online system, to enhance the current application process for expatriates seeking permission to enter/exit and return to Malaysia.
Known as MYEntry, the platform enables the public and relevant Government stakeholders, including Malaysian embassies abroad, to apply, process, monitor and track applications in real-time, TalentCorp Malaysia said in a statement.
The portal is accessible through the Expatriate Service Division (ESD)'s online system, effective 10 August 2020, and will be fully implemented on 17 August; all applications submitted to the ESD's email address before 17 August, which have yet to receive a decision 14 working days after submission, can then be submitted via MYEntry.
Entry applications will be applicable to these groups:
- Expatriates, skilled workers, and knowledge workers for key posts and technical posts
- Their dependants
- Foreign maids
Possible scenario: An expatriate with an active pass, who is currently stranded abroad
- He/she is exempted from obtaining an entry approval from the Director General of Immigration Malaysia (DGIM).
- The applicant who is currently abroad with an expired pass, but with a balance from the previous Expatriate Committee Approval, MUST obtain an entry approval Letter from the DGIM. The application must be submitted via MYEntry to obtain the decision of the DGIM.
- Prior to entering Malaysia, the applicant is encouraged to undergo a PCR Covid-19 Test abroad within three days, and must be medically confirmed to be tested negative for COVID-19.
- It is also compulsory for the expatriate to download and install the "MySejahtera" mobile application before departure.
- Upon arrival in Malaysia, the applicant must present to the Immigration Officer at the entry point:
- An Entry Approval Letter, applicable for those who exited Malaysia after 11 July 2020 and whose pass expired abroad, applicants detailed in point #2.
- A valid Pass / Approval Letter / Visa with Reference; and
- Results of the COVID-19 test (if any)
- He/she will also be required to undergo another COVID-19 Test, by the Ministry of Health (MOH). The cost of test shall be borne by the applicant.
- A mandatory 14-day quarantine at a quarantine centre also applies, as stipulated by the National Disaster Management Agency and MOH. The cost of quarantine shall be borne by the applicant.
- Failing to pay all costs or any money due to the Government of Malaysia, will result in a pass cancellation, blacklist in Immigration system, and the applicant will be issued a notice of ‘Not To Land’ for deportation.The applicant is required to comply with the rules and regulations set by the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
- Permitted entry points are the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Immigration Checkpoint, Sultan Iskandar Building, Johor (entry by automobile), and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (2nd Link), Johor (entry by automobile).

Meanwhile, exit and return applications will be applicable to the following groups:
- Skilled workers
- Knowledge workers
- Residence pass - talent (RP-T) holders
- Professional visit pass (PVP) holders
- Long-term social visit pass holders
- Foreign maids
